Almaviva's vineyards extend across carefully selected plots in the Maipo Valley, where the clay-limestone soil and climatic influences create an ideal environment for viticulture. The vines, many of them several years old, are cultivated with meticulous care, resulting in exceptional concentration and quality. Cultivation practices are environmentally friendly, promoting biodiversity and soil health. The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring rigorous selection of only the finest fruit for winemaking.

    Owner and history

Almaviva is currently owned by the Barons de Rothschild family and Concha y Toro, two major players in the wine world. This unique collaboration combines French winemaking expertise with Chilean passion, creating a synergy that produces exceptional wines. The Rothschild family, with its centuries-old heritage, brings unparalleled know-how, while Concha y Toro, with its rich history and reach, contributes to Almaviva's international renown. Together, they perpetuate a tradition of excellence, committed to respecting the environment and promoting the richness of Chilean terroir.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for Almaviva 2023 follows traditional methods while incorporating modern techniques. After a carefully executed hand-harvest, the grapes are destemmed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks, allowing for gentle tannin extraction. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, some of which are new, to impart complexity and structure to the wine. This aging process, which lasts several months, allows the wine to refine, harmonize its aromas, and develop its flavor profile before careful bottling.
