Description

The Château de Chamirey - Mercurey Premier Cru "Clos de la Maladière" 2024 is one of the estate's gems. This monopole (a plot of land owned solely by the Château) is renowned for producing wines of great distinction and remarkable finesse.
The "Clos de la Maladière" vineyard is situated on an east-facing slope, allowing it to capture the first rays of sunlight while maintaining a cool nighttime environment. The soil is composed of clay-limestone with a high concentration of hard limestone, giving the wine its structure and minerality.

Owner and history

Plots: 3 plots forming 1.36 hectares, planted between 1959 and 1979. Climate & Soil: The 'Clos de la Maladière' is located on a clay-limestone terroir in Predominantly clayey. It is exposed from South to North, on a slightly sloping terrain with small pebbles.

Vinification and aging

The grapes are harvested by hand, then the harvest is sorted manually and completely destemmed.
Following the filling of the vat, a cold pre-fermentation maceration of 4 to 5 days takes place, followed by the start of alcoholic fermentation by the indigenous flora. The extraction process during maceration depends on the raw material and is adjusted daily according to the progress of alcoholic fermentation and the level of polyphenol extraction.
The wine is aged for 10 months entirely in oak barrels, of which 20%
from new barrels, then for 3 months in vats.

The team's opinion

Why choose La Maladière 2024? While Mercurey "Village" is a wine for immediate enjoyment, Clos de la Maladière is a wine for patience and fine dining. The 2024 vintage, fresher than previous ones, particularly highlights the nobility of this limestone terroir.
