The Château Montrose vineyard is planted on gravelly soils, typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, which promote excellent drainage and optimal grape ripening. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are cultivated with care to respect the integrity of the terroir. The temperate oceanic climate, influenced by the proximity of the Gironde estuary, allows for harmonious ripening of the grape varieties, resulting in grapes of exceptional quality.

    Owner and history

Château Montrose is currently managed by the Bouygues family, who acquired the estate in 2006. Under their leadership, Montrose has successfully blended tradition and modernity while preserving the heritage of one of Bordeaux's most prestigious wines. Their commitment to quality and sustainability is reflected in every bottle, demonstrating a passion for excellence and a deep respect for the terroir.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Montrose is a meticulous process that begins with the hand-harvesting of fully ripe grapes. Each plot is vinified separately to preserve the expression of the terroir. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in oak barrels, some of which are new. This aging process, lasting 12 to 18 months, allows the tannins to soften and the oak aromas to integrate, while preserving the freshness and purity of the fruit.
