    Description

Located in the heart of the Taravo Valley in Southern Corsica, Domaine Comte Abbatucci embodies the island's winemaking excellence. Led by visionary winemaker Jean-Charles Abbatucci, this estate is a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture and a passionate advocate for indigenous Corsican grape varieties. Nestled in the hills above the Alata region, it produces deep and vibrant wines that express the full character of Corsican granite terroir. The 2023 Monte Bianco vintage perfectly illustrates this quest for authenticity, blending tradition, environmental commitment, and aromatic finesse in a respectful approach to nature.

    Notes and pairings

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The 2023 Monte Bianco from Domaine Comte Abbatucci displays a brilliant ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose is captivating with its floral and fruity complexity, mingling violet, wild strawberry, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is fresh, beautifully taut, with a silky texture and fine tannins. The long, subtly spicy finish leaves an elegant and flavorful mineral imprint.

    Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with a confit shoulder of lamb, a roasted pigeon fillet or eggplants stuffed with herbs.

The Domaine Comte Abbatucci vineyard stretches across slopes of decomposed granite, at an altitude of approximately 100 meters. The poor, well-drained soils encourage deep root development, resulting in wines that are both expressive and balanced. The plots dedicated to the Monte Bianco cuvée are cultivated biodynamically, with meticulous attention paid to biodiversity, lunar cycles, and soil energy.

    Owner and history

Jean-Charles Abbatucci now manages the family estate with passion and exacting standards. An agricultural engineer by training, he embarked on a complete conversion to biodynamic farming in the 2000s, convinced that soil vitality is the key to wine quality. Heir to a line of Corsican generals, he perpetuates a tradition of excellence and preservation of Corsican winemaking heritage, with a deep attachment to the land, indigenous grape varieties, and nature.

    Vinification and aging

At the estate, winemaking is traditional and respectful of living things: the harvest is done by hand, fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, with long macerations.
For the Monte Bianco 2023 vintage, the aging takes place in large casks and demi-muids for approximately 12 months, without filtration, in order to preserve all the uniqueness of the Corsican terroir and the purity of the fruit.
