Notes and pairings

Tasting notes

This wine has a deep, almost ruby red color, hinting at its impressive intensity. On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, mingle with spicy and floral notes. On the palate, the attack is direct, with a beautiful tannic structure that melts into a long, refined finish, leaving a lingering impression of freshness and minerality.

Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs wonderfully with a beef fillet with porcini mushrooms or a roast duck with cherries.

The Domaine Dugat-Py vineyard stretches across carefully selected plots in Gevrey-Chambertin, where the clay-limestone soil plays a vital role in shaping the wines. The very old vines, some over 80 years old, send their roots deep into this terroir, allowing for optimal root development and a unique aromatic concentration. The region's microclimate, with its temperature variations between day and night, promotes a slow and even ripening of the grapes, essential for producing wines of character. Each harvest is carried out by hand, ensuring rigorous selection of the bunches.

Owner and history

The current owners of Domaine Dugat-Py, the Dugat family, are passionate about winemaking. Their commitment to excellence and respect for the terroir is reflected in every bottle they produce. They take meticulous care in cultivating their vines and in the winemaking process, blending tradition with innovation. The family is also deeply committed to passing on their expertise, training the next generation in the art of viticulture. Their philosophy is based on the idea that each vineyard has a unique voice to express, and they strive to let it resonate through their wines.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Domaine Dugat-Py is traditional and respectful of the fruit. The grapes are carefully sorted and destemmed before being vinified in open vats. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, allowing the terroir to fully express itself. Aging then occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months, depending on the vintage. This process gives the wine aromatic complexity while preserving its freshness. Bottling is done without filtration, in order to retain the wine's full authenticity.
