Producer

The Domaine Dugat-Py vineyard extends across carefully selected plots in Gevrey-Chambertin. The soil, composed of clay and limestone, is ideal for Pinot Noir, allowing for excellent drainage and rich minerality. The very old vines, some over 70 years old, have deep roots, resulting in exceptional concentration and complexity. The region's temperate climate, with warm summers and cold winters, promotes slow ripening of the grapes, ensuring a beautiful aromatic expression.

Owner and history

The current owners, the Dugat family, are passionate about viticulture and the art of producing terroir-driven wines. They perpetuate ancestral know-how while integrating modern and environmentally friendly practices. Their connection to the land and their desire to pass on a quality winemaking heritage are reflected in every bottle. The estate, though modest in size, is renowned for the exceptional quality of its wines, which attract the attention of enthusiasts and experts worldwide.

Vinification and aging

The wines of Domaine Dugat-Py are made according to Burgundian traditions. After a carefully selected, hand-harvested grape, they are destemmed before being placed in vats for a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, allowing for an authentic expression of the terroir. The wines are then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 15 months, depending on the vintage. This traditional method allows the tannins to soften and adds aromatic complexity without masking the fruit.
