    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The 2020 Menetou-Salon Les Cris displays a brilliant ruby color with purple highlights. The nose charms with aromas of small red fruits, redcurrant, and cherry, mingled with slightly smoky and stony notes. On the palate, the attack is clean and precise, carried by vibrant freshness and an elegant mineral structure. The long and harmonious finish prolongs the experience with saline nuances and a delicate texture.

    Food & wine pairings

This delicate red wine pairs perfectly with grilled white meats, roast poultry, or aged goat cheese.

The Domaine Pellé vineyard stretches across the clay-limestone soils of Menetou-Salon, with a base of Kimmeridgian marl, similar to that of Chablis. The Pinot Noir vines, planted in the Les Cris climat, benefit from ideal sunshine and cool nights, promoting slow ripening. This unique geology imparts a pronounced mineral character to the wine, while preserving the purity and vibrancy of the fruit. The vineyard is managed sustainably, respecting the natural balance.

    Owner and history

Today managed by Paul-Henry Pellé, the Domaine perpetuates a family tradition rooted in a commitment to quality. Trained in Burgundy and returning to the estate in 2007, Paul-Henry has breathed new life into the wines, combining technical precision with respect for the environment. His vision revolves around showcasing the unique terroirs of Menetou-Salon, which he expresses in single-vineyard wines of exceptional purity. His dedication to sustainable viticulture and transparent winemaking elevates the estate to the ranks of the Loire Valley's finest.

    Vinification and aging

Domaine Pellé practices minimal intervention winemaking, respecting the grapes and the vintage. The grapes are destemmed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts.
The 2020 Les Cris vintage is then aged in old barrels and demi-muids for about a year, without excessive oak influence, to refine the tannins while preserving the expression of the terroir. No fining is carried out, and bottling is gentle, with minimal sulfur.

    The team's opinion

Remarkable precision, chiseled freshness and vibrant minerality: Les Cris 2020 is a lesson in Loire Valley purity.
