The Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande vineyard covers 90 hectares, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The gravelly soil provides an ideal terroir that allows for excellent drainage and promotes optimal grape ripening. The oceanic climate, with its maritime influences, contributes to temperature variations that are beneficial for the aromatic development of the berries. The sustainable viticulture practices employed here respect the ecosystem, fostering biodiversity and ensuring the long-term health of the vines.

Owner and history

Currently, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is managed by the Rouzaud family, who acquired the estate in 2007. Passionate about wine and gastronomy, their mission is to maintain the excellence of the wines while respecting the estate's heritage. Their commitment to sustainable viticulture and their desire for innovation are reflected in their environmentally friendly practices. The owners are also dedicated to showcasing the terroir, ensuring the long-term viability of the wines and their international renown.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for the 2016 Réserve de la Comtesse is carried out with meticulous care. The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature management. Extended maceration promotes the extraction of aromas and tannins. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 12 months. This process imparts complexity and depth to the wine, while preserving the pure expression of the terroir.
