            A recently built estate, carefully maintained by the Borie family

            THEChâteau Lalande-Borieis created in1970byJean-Eugène BorieThe former Bordeaux wine merchant acquired the Lalande estate from a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien. The 30-hectare estate, including 22 hectares of vineyards, has never left the family, and it is Madame Borie and her children,Sabine Coiffe and Bruno-Eugène Boriewho have now taken up the torch. Bruno Borie is the current president of the company Jean-Eugène Borie SA, which is also in charge of the Ducru-Beaucaillou, Ducluzeau, and Fourcas-Dupré castles. Located in the municipality ofSaint-Julien-BeychevellesIn Gironde, in the Bordeaux wine region, the Château produces appellation red winesSaint-Julien classified as Cru Bourgeois du MédocSince 2008. The vineyard, a single block, is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. Over the years, Château Lalande-Borie has built a fine reputation among the estates of the appellation thanks to itsfine winesmarketed at aExcellent value for money.

            With 910 hectares of vineyards,Saint-Julienis the smallest appellation in the Médoc andits terroir is exceptionalThe vineyard ofChâteau Lalande-BorieIt is therefore ideally situated on gravelly soil with a clay base, which facilitates drainage and allows for a naturally optimal water supply. The vines benefit from an oceanic climate and are surrounded by numerous Second and Third Growth vineyards from the 1855 classification.

            The grape varieties are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which reveals all the splendor of its terroir thanks to the meticulous care of the Borie family. The planting density is 8,500 vines per hectare, and yields are limited to 45 hectoliters per hectare to ensure thegrape qualityThe vines are 35 years old and cultivated according to the principles of theintegrated pest managementThe grapes are harvested by hand and a selective sorting process takes place on the vines to select only the best fruit. Château Lalande-Borie produces 100,000 bottles of Saint-Julien wine each year.
