The 2025 vintage of Château Pichon Baron stands out as a particularly convincing testimony to the resilience of the vineyard and the precision of the teams in place. Originating from more vieilles vignes of the property, on its historical lands of PauillacThis Grand Vin fully expresses the character of an early and concentrated harvest, where the small size of the berries and the control of yields have favored a remarkable depth and structure.

During our tasting at the estate, the wine revealed itself to be of a controlled power, carried by a intensity of black fruits and finely chiseled spicy nuances, supported by a A pronounced but perfectly integrated tannic structure. The meticulous work in the vineyard—including rigorous optical sorting—and the choice of gentle, gravity-flow winemaking have allowed us to preserve a great purity of expression and a precise balance.

The 2025 vintage clearly falls into the category of great vintages ending in “5”: a Pichon Baron A wine of aging potential, both intense, elegant and endowed with remarkable persistence, destined to evolve gracefully for more than forty years.

Owner and history

THE domaine of Pichon Baron It was acquired in 1987 by AXA Millésimes, whose objective was to allow great wines, from vineyards with a glorious past, to express their full potential. A project to construct new winery buildings was launched following a competition by the Centre Georges Pompidou. The complete reconstruction of the vat room and barrel cellar, as well as the renovation of the château will begin in 1988. Since then, the château The 19th-century château is magnified by a reflecting pool that stretches out at its base. And beneath its silvery reflections, since 2008, lies a subterranean winery worthy of the Nautilus, thanks to its openings to the water and the sky. This underground barrel cellar completes the development of a production of excellence, in the purest tradition of the great Pauillac wines.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Pichon Baron Winemaking is a mastered art, blending centuries-old traditions with technical innovations. The grapes, carefully hand-harvested, are rigorously sorted to retain only the very best. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature management. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 16 to 18 months. This aging process imparts the wine's tannic structure and delicate aromas, while respecting the pure expression of the terroir. Each vintage is crafted with meticulous care, aiming to capture the essence of the year and offer a unique sensory experience.
