History of the Estate Domaine Theulot Juillot

the story of Domaine Theulot Juillot

The history of the Theulot Juillot estate

A transmission from woman to woman

It's Marguerite and ÉmileJuillotwho founded the estate at the beginning of the century. Together, they chose their terroirs and worked to develop them. This beautiful family estate was founded in the only commune ofMercureyIt comprises a selection of six Premier Cru vineyards. Over time, the estate has expanded. Today, it covers a total of 12 hectares. In 1987, Marguerite Juillot decided to pass the estate on to her granddaughter, Nathalie. It is still rare in the wine world for a family business to be passed down from one woman to another. However, this is the case for theTheulot Juillot estateThe story is wonderful, and this unique characteristic is a source of great pride for the estate and its owners. Nathalie Theulot, assisted by her husband Jean-Claude, has co-managed the estate ever since. Together, they apply all their convictions to the business.

        Constant improvement

        The philosophy of yield control

With the help of her husband, Nathalie Theulot took over the family estate in 1987. Together, they patiently replanted the vines, striving to improve their wine. This strategy proved successful: their wine gained in finesse and elegance. They started from a simple but crucial observation: "it's easier to make good wines with beautiful grapes." They therefore focused on maximizing yield control. By taking the utmost care of their vines, they aimed to obtain the healthiest grapes possible. Thus, no pesticides are used on the estate, the vines are plowed, the berries are sorted, and the harvest is whole-cluster. From the purity of their fruit, they produce clean, full-bodied, and delicious wines. During tasting, one might even notice a pleasant, slightly woody aroma, characteristic of the terroir. This beautiful estate perfectly represents the quality ofthe Côte Chalonnaise.

        The Theulot Juillot expertise

        Professionals and enthusiasts

Genuine expertise is applied to the vineyard. A dedicated team supports the couple in their work. These men and women, professionals, have learned to know the vines of theTheulot Juillot estateBy repeating the same gestures thousands of times, they refine their technique each time. This knowledge of the vineyards also allows them to judiciously incorporate a touch of modernity into traditional methods. As is the custom in the family tradition, the grapes are harvested by hand and the winemaking is natural. The wines are then aged in oak barrels. Nathalie and Jean-Claude are acutely aware of the wonderful heritage that the estate's terroir represents.Theulot JuillotTheir priority is therefore to respect and maintain it in order to continue producing great wines. As true enthusiasts, they welcome visitors to their vineyard throughout the year.
