History of the Estate Combier Estate

        the story of Combier Estate

        A family farm

        From arboriculture to viticulture

It was in 1936 that Camille Combier founded the estate at La Roche de Glun. Having come from his native Ardèche, he purchased land comprising 3 hectares of vines and 4 hectares of apricot orchards. His son, Maurice, took over the estate with his wife in 1962. Particularly invested in fruit growing, he nevertheless continued to tend the vineyard he inherited. At the end of the 1980s,Laurent CombierHe joined the family business. Unlike his father, he developed a passion for winemaking. He then built his own cellar to become an independent winemaker. Convinced of the potential ofCrozes-HermitageHe wants to assert the quality of his terroir.Combier estateIt then consisted of 15 hectares of peach trees and 5 hectares of vines. Little by little, he acquired new plots and expanded his vineyard. Since 2014, Julien, Laurent's eldest son, has been working at the estate with his father.

        50 years of organic farming

        Pioneering area of the region

Maurice Combier converted the property intoorganic farmingDuring the winter of 1970, he made this decision following an allergic reaction to a pesticide. He then committed all his work to organic farming. This practice was still relatively uncommon, and he was one of the pioneers in the region. Considered a true visionary, he became a role model. His son, Laurent, the current owner of the vineyard, has always known this philosophy. It is therefore a natural choice for him. Thus, it is only natural that he continues the work begun by his father. Aware of the impact he can have on the environment, he treats his land with the utmost care. Furthermore, he wishes to pass on to his sons a terroir that has lost none of its quality and unique character. In 2010 theCombier estatetherefore proudly celebrates its50 years of organic farming.

Today, Clos des Grives is used to produce the estate's top-of-the-range wines. Since 1990, they have been the benchmark for the vineyard.
