The vineyard of M.Chapoutier It is a true gem, situated on the renowned slopes of Hermitage, where clay-limestone soils, mixed with rolled pebbles, impart exceptional minerality to the grapes. The diversity of exposures and microclimates provides the vines with an incredibly rich terroir. Owner and history

Currently headed by Michel Chapoutier, THE domaine embodies a modern vision of viticulture, while remaining rooted in its traditions. Michel, heir to a long line of winemakers, has breathed new life into the domaine, by introducing biodynamic practices and highlighting the unique character of the terroirs. His passion for authenticity and his respect for nature are reflected in each vintage, making M.Chapoutier an ambassador for the great wines of the Rhône Valley.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking of L'Ermite 2025 is a tribute to the traditional know-how of the domaine. After the grapes are hand-harvested, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the aromas. Aging in barrels, some of which are new, allows the tannins to soften and subtle woody notes to develop. This aging method, combined with practices that respect the terroir, guarantees the wine's complexity and depth, while preserving its unique character.
