The story ofDomaine Jacques Prieurbegins with the marriage, on February 24, 1868, ofClaude DuvergeyAndMarie TaboureauFrom this union was born the Duvergey-Taboureau trading house. While the company's beginnings unfolded without direct investment in viticulture, they soon embarked on acquiring land inCôte d'OrThree Monopole wines will be added to a number of already very prestigious plots.
At the end of the 19th century, the lack of a direct heir forced the couple to turn to Marie's niece.Hélène Taboureauwhom they married to a man from a good family: Henri Prieur. From the fruit of their love was born a son,Jacques PrieurUpon the death of his grandparents, Jacques inherited the estate and bequeathed it his name in 1956. He would become a major figure in Burgundy, notably thanks to his role in the creation of theBrotherhood of the Knights of the Tastevin.
