The Château Angélus vineyard stretches across sunny terraces, benefiting from a temperate oceanic climate. The soils are primarily clay-limestone, promoting optimal drainage while retaining the moisture necessary for the vines. This geological diversity enriches the grapes, giving them unique characteristics. The vines are cultivated with care, respecting natural cycles, resulting in high-quality grapes that guarantee an exceptional wine.

Owner and history

Currently, Château Angélus is managed by the de Boüard de Laforest family, whose commitment to excellence is unwavering. Hubert de Boüard, a passionate oenologist, has propelled the estate to the pinnacle of the Saint-Émilion appellation. Under his guidance, the estate has experienced a true renaissance, blending tradition with modern techniques. The family continues to pass on its expertise and love of wine through the generations, thus ensuring the enduring legacy of this legendary house.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Angélus is a meticulous process, blending tradition and innovation. The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring rigorous selection. After delicate destemming, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for optimal aroma extraction. Aging occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 18 months. This crucial stage imparts complexity and structure to the wine, while preserving the pure expression of the terroir.
