The vineyard of Château Coutet stretches across clay-limestone slopes, benefiting from optimal sun exposure and natural ventilation. This unique geographical location promotes the ripening of the grapes, allowing the varietals to develop rich and complex aromas. The soil, composed of limestone and clay, imparts a distinct minerality to the wines, while ensuring excellent water retention, essential for viticulture in this region. The vines are cultivated with care, respecting natural cycles to preserve biodiversity and soil health.

Owner and history

Currently run by the Castéja family, the Château Coutet is the fruit of a family passion for winemaking. The owners, mindful of heritage and quality, work daily to guarantee the excellence of their wines. They combine traditional know-how with modern techniques, while respecting the environment and the terroir. Their commitment to sustainable practices and their desire to promote the Barsac appellation internationally are at the heart of their philosophy.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Coutet is crafted with meticulous care. The hand-harvested grapes are gently pressed to extract the juice. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, preserving the freshness and intensity of the aromas. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months. This aging process lends the wine added complexity while respecting the original expression of the terroir. Bottling is done unfiltered to retain the wine's full aromatic richness.
