The 2023 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru reveals a deep and luminous ruby ​​color. In the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the Domaine de l'Arlot vineyard covers just over 14 hectares cultivated according to biodynamic principles. This exceptional estate boasts renowned vineyard sites, including the celebrated monopoles Clos de l'Arlot and Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges. The meticulously maintained clay-marl and limestone soils impart purity and refinement to the wines. Each plot undergoes individual vinification to accurately reveal the unique character of its terroir and the authentic signature of the estate.

Owner and history

Located in Prémeaux-Prissey, south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine de l'Arlot embodies the pure elegance of the Côte de Nuits. Founded in the 19th century and named after the stream that flows through it, it has belonged to AXA Millésimes since 1987, the latter also owning Pichon Baron and Quinta do Noval. Entirely managed biodynamically, the estate covers 14 hectares, including the prestigious monopoles Clos de l'Arlot and Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges. Its wines, of great finesse and remarkable precision, authentically reflect the nobility of Burgundy's terroirs.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for the 2023 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru from Domaine de l'Arlot follows a delicate and respectful approach to the fruit. The grapes, hand-harvested and meticulously sorted, ferment using indigenous yeasts, with a controlled proportion of whole bunches to preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. Extraction is carried out gently to retain the finesse of the Pinot Noir. Aging, lasting 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, approximately 50% of which are new, imparts structure, depth, and elegance without compromising the purity of the terroir.
