Owner and history

Felton Road is currently managed by a passionate team that carries on the legacy of its founders. Blair Walter, head winemaker, has instilled his vision and expertise into the estate, making Felton Road a model of success in sustainable viticulture. The team of dedicated professionals works daily to preserve the integrity of the vines and ensure the quality of the wines. Their commitment to biodynamic practices and innovation continues to attract the attention of wine lovers worldwide, making Felton Road a benchmark in New Zealand.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for Felton Road - Calvert Pinot Noir is meticulous, beginning with the hand-harvesting of fully ripe grapes. After rigorous sorting, the bunches are destemmed and then placed in vats for a natural fermentation, allowing the terroir to fully express itself. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, some of which are new to impart a subtle oak influence. During this period, the wine benefits from regular lees stirring, enriching its texture and complexity. This artisanal process results in a balanced wine, where every sip tells the story of its terroir.
