The Château Durfort Vivens vineyard covers approximately sixty hectares spread across the finest deep gravelly terroirs of Margaux. These soils, composed of pebbles and clayey sands, promote excellent drainage and concentrated fruit flavors. The vineyards are cultivated using biodynamic methods, certified since 2016, fully respecting the natural balance of the soil and the vine. Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme, bringing finesse and structure, complemented by Merlot which softens the overall character. Each plot is vinified separately to best reflect the richness of this exceptional terroir.

Owner and history

Since 1992, Gonzague Lurton, heir to a prominent Bordeaux winemaking family, has managed Château Durfort Vivens with passion and conviction. A pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in the Médoc, he strives to reveal the purity of the fruit and the unique character of the terroir. His vision: a living wine, respectful of nature and imbued with emotion. Thanks to his commitment and exacting standards, the estate has experienced meteoric growth and is now recognized as one of the most exciting wines of Margaux. Lurton's signature? Wines of balance, energy, and remarkable precision.

Vinification and aging

Château Durfort-Vivens adopts a meticulous approach to winemaking and aging, combining tradition and innovation. Fermentation is carried out with minimal intervention, and a large portion of the aging takes place in amphorae to preserve the purity of the aromas. The wines also benefit from partial aging in new oak barrels. These practices reveal the aromatic brilliance and the smoothness of the tannins, while enhancing the unique identity of each terroir.
