On the palate, the attack is ample and structured, supported by fine tannins and a beautiful tension. The persistent finish reveals spicy and woody nuances, attesting to perfectly controlled aging. The Château Giscours vineyard covers approximately 100 hectares within the finest terroirs of Margaux, on deep gravelly slopes typical of the Médoc. These soils, excellent for drainage, promote the slow and even ripening of the grapes. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are cultivated with care and respect for the environment. Thanks to a temperate oceanic climate, the grapes reach optimal ripeness while retaining their freshness. This first-rate terroir, combined with rigorous plot selection, gives Giscours wines their elegance and aging potential.

Owner and history

Château Giscours has belonged to the Albada Jelgersma family, of Dutch origin, since 1995. Under the leadership of Managing Director Alexander Van Beek, the estate has undergone a spectacular qualitative renaissance. Their vision blends tradition and innovation, with a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and exemplary technical precision. Respect for the terroir, the excellence of the teams, and attention to every detail have elevated Giscours to one of the most trusted names in Margaux. Today, the estate enjoys worldwide renown, driven by a commitment to consistent quality and a deep passion for great wines.

Vinification and aging

At Château Giscours, winemaking relies on traditional practices adapted to each vintage. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with gentle pump-overs to extract finesse and balance.
For the 2024 vintage, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 15 months, with approximately 50% new wood, allowing the wine to gain complexity without dominating the fruit.
