The Château La Gurgue vineyard stretches across clay-gravel soils, typical of the Margaux appellation. These well-drained soils allow for optimal grape ripening, enhancing the expression of the varietals. The region's oceanic climate, with its mild winters and sunny summers, contributes to the aromatic richness of the berries. The vines, some several decades old, are cultivated with respect for the environment, guaranteeing sustainable and high-quality viticulture. Each plot is carefully tended to reveal the unique potential of this exceptional terroir.

    Owner and history

Château La Gurgue is currently run by a passionate family who have preserved its winemaking heritage while integrating modern practices. This family continuity ensures authentic expertise, with each generation adding its personal touch. The owners are committed to quality, striving to express the character of their terroir to the fullest. Their passion for winemaking translates into wines that capture the very essence of Margaux, captivating both enthusiasts and connoisseurs.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château La Gurgue follows traditional Bordeaux methods. After a manual harvest, the grapes are carefully sorted and destemmed before being placed in vats. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, allowing for the extraction of aromas and tannins. Aging in oak barrels, some of which are new, lasts approximately 12 months, imparting structure and complexity to the wine. The result is a Margaux that combines power and elegance, with remarkable aging potential.
