Owner and history

The Lafite Rothschild vineyards benefit from exceptional conditions. They comprise three main areas, covering 114 hectares of vines, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (3%), and Petit Verdot (2%). The soil consists of deep, fine gravel over a limestone base.

Vinification and aging

- The grape harvest is done by hand.
- The winemaking process is carried out plot by plot in a vat room combining large traditional vats
- Malolactic fermentation takes place in tanks
- The wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in new oak barrels. Moreover, the barrels are made by the Rothschild Estates' own cooperage.
- The wine is bottled after fining with fresh egg whites.
