The Château Pontet-Canet vineyard covers 81 hectares, planted on clay-gravel soils. This distinctive terroir, combined with a favorable microclimate, allows the grape varieties to fully express themselves. The vines, cultivated with care, are regularly worked to encourage deep root development, guaranteeing high-quality grapes. Each plot is vinified separately to preserve the unique characteristics of each terroir.

Owner and history

Currently managed by Jean-Michel Comme, Château Pontet-Canet is in good hands. Under his leadership, the estate has undergone a remarkable transformation, incorporating biodynamic practices. This modern vision, blending tradition and innovation, has allowed Pontet-Canet to rise to the ranks of Bordeaux's finest wines. The current owners are also committed to environmental initiatives, strengthening their connection to the land and to sustainability.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Pontet-Canet is a meticulous process. The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring rigorous selection. After fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are renewed each year. This extended aging process, lasting approximately 16 months, allows the tannins to soften and the aromatic complexity of the wine to develop, while respecting the terroir's unique character.
