Sourced from the stoniest plots of Méal, Bessards, Rocoules, and Greffieux, with vines ranging from 40 to 100 years old, the perfect balance and depth of La Chapelle are only truly achieved through the final blending of the original grapes, revealing the wine's unique character. Each terroir contributes its aromatic characteristics as well as the elegant tannin structure that gives this wine exceptional aging potential.

    Owner and history

Founded in 1834 on the Hermitage hill in Tain l'Hermitage, Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné safeguards an exceptional heritage, bringing together the most renowned terroirs of the northern Rhône Valley, and embodies the very essence of great wines. The Wine Advocate applauds the new impetus given to Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné: "One only needs to look at what owner Caroline Frey accomplished in 2009 and 2010 to realize the extraordinary evolution in the quality of Jaboulet wines."

    Vinification and aging

We operate a mass selection of our most vieilles vignes within our Syrah conservatory. Every year the 10 selections are vinified using a micro-vinification cellar.

This work is useful for replanting of course, but also for future vine renewals because even the best nurserymen cannot supply us with plants from this unique heritage.
