The La Mission Haut-Brion vineyard covers 30 hectares, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The soils, composed of gravel and clay, ensure optimal drainage and promote deep root development. This exceptional terroir, combined with a temperate oceanic climate, allows for perfect grape ripening, thus guaranteeing wines of great aromatic richness and beautiful structure. The estate's commitment to environmentally friendly viticultural practices also contributes to the quality of the grapes.

Owner and history

Currently, Château La Mission Haut-Brion is owned by the Dillon family, who have successfully perpetuated the legacy of this exceptional estate. Under their guidance, the château has undergone significant improvements in viticultural and winemaking techniques, while preserving its unique character. The Dillon family is deeply committed to Bordeaux tradition and takes great pride in producing high-quality wines that reflect the terroir and ancestral expertise. Their passion for viticulture and respect for the environment are central to their philosophy, ensuring the future of this great estate.

Vinification and aging

The vinification of La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion takes place in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for precise temperature control. The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring rigorous selection of the bunches. After destemming, the grapes are vinified separately by grape variety and terroir, allowing each parcel to express its unique character. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 12 months. This method imparts complexity to the wine while preserving the purity of its aromas. The final blend, carefully crafted, results in a harmonious and elegant wine.
