The Clos Fourtet vineyard stretches across clay-limestone soils, characteristic of the Saint-Émilion region. These mineral-rich soils promote optimal grape ripening, giving the wines a unique aromatic complexity. Bordeaux's temperate climate, with its hot summers and mild winters, contributes to the production of elegant and refined wines. Sustainable farming practices respect the environment while guaranteeing the quality of the harvest. Each plot is meticulously tended to reveal the very best of this exceptional terroir.

    Owner and history

Currently, the Clos Fourtet estate is managed by the Cuvelier family, who have successfully perpetuated the legacy of previous owners while bringing a modern vision to winemaking. Passionate about their terroir, the Cuveliers are committed to an environmentally responsible approach, adopting sustainable farming practices. Their dedication is reflected in their meticulous attention to detail at each stage of winemaking, thus guaranteeing optimal quality. Thanks to their expertise and love of wine, they continue to elevate Clos Fourtet to the ranks of Bordeaux's finest wines.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process at La Closerie de Fourtet is meticulous, blending tradition and modernity. The grapes, carefully hand-harvested, are destemmed and crushed before being vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Each grape variety is vinified separately to preserve its unique character. Aging continues in oak barrels, some of which are new, allowing the aromas to develop while respecting the fruit. This aging method, lasting 12 to 15 months, gives La Closerie de Fourtet its structure and elegance, while preserving the freshness and typicity of the terroir.
