Owner and history

THE Château La Gurgue, a bourgeois cru of Margaux. In 1988, the wine of Château La Gurgue is selected as one of the 10 wines of Margaux the most typical (alongside 8 Classified Growths of the appellation) by 50 tasters brought together by "The Style Test" Margaux Today, Claire Villars-Lurton is at the helm of the family estate. She then converted the entire vineyard of Château La Gurgue practices agroecology, organic farming, and biodynamic agriculture. These changes in viticultural and winemaking practices have revealed the quality of this wine and the beauty of the individual vineyard plots. The estate has been certified organic since 2015 and biodynamic since 2018.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château La Gurgue is crafted with meticulous care, blending tradition and innovation. The hand-harvested grapes are rigorously sorted to retain only the finest berries. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for precise temperature management and optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. The aging process, the details of which are not disclosed, occurs in oak barrels, imparting subtle woody notes and enhanced complexity to the wine.
