Tasting notes

The wine is a deep, vibrant red. On the nose, aromas of ripe black fruit, blackcurrant, and cherry mingle with spicy and slightly woody notes. The Château Branaire-Ducru vineyard covers 55 hectares, planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The soil, composed of gravel and clay, promotes good drainage and excellent grape ripening. The oceanic climate, with its maritime influences, allows for a slow and even maturation of the berries. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are meticulously tended, ensuring sustainable and high-quality production. Particular attention is paid to each stage, from vineyard to winemaking, to showcase the terroir.

Owner and history

Currently, Château Branaire-Ducru is managed by the Maroteaux family, who have preserved its historical heritage while bringing a modern vision to winemaking. Their passion for wine and respect for the environment are at the heart of their approach. They have invested in innovative techniques while remaining faithful to traditional methods. This approach has allowed the estate to rise to the ranks of Bordeaux's finest wines, while creating wines that tell the story of their terroir and their era.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Branaire-Ducru is carried out with complete respect for tradition. The hand-harvested grapes guarantee rigorous selection. After careful destemming, the berries are placed in vats for a cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. Aging takes place in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months. This method allows the tannins to soften and the oak aromas to integrate, while preserving the purity of the fruit. Each vintage is a new chapter in the estate's history, revealing its identity and terroir.
