The vineyard of Château Latour The estate spans 78 hectares, with soils composed of gravel and clay, ideal for quality viticulture. The vines, some several decades old, benefit from an ideal microclimate, influenced by the proximity of the estuary. Each plot is carefully cultivated, respecting the natural balance of the ecosystem. This attention to the terroir allows the full expression of the grape varieties, resulting in wines of great depth and remarkable longevity.

Owner and history

Since 1993, and under the leadership of François Pinault, significant changes have been made over the years aimed at pursuing the quest for excellence in the wines produced by Château Latour. In 1998, Frédéric Engerer, who had joined the domaine In early 1995, he was appointed Manager. Large-scale works began in November 1999 and lasted until September 2003. The total renovation of the cellars, the vat room, the winemaking systems and the storage areas allowed for even greater precision in the production of the wines.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Latour is a meticulous process, combining tradition and innovation. The harvest is done by hand, guaranteeing rigorous grape selection. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for the gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. Aging in oak barrels, some of which are new, lasts 18 to 24 months and gives the wine its complexity and aromatic richness. This care at each stage guarantees wines of exceptional quality, true to the identity of the domaine.
